Dietitian Mentoring with Aidan Muir

Aidan Muir

Are you a passionate and driven dietitian looking to take your career to the next level

Do you want to fast-track your progression towards being the best practitioner you can be?

Or learn how to stand out and attract the type of clients that you want to work with?

This mentorship might be the opportunity you are looking for

Dietetics is Tough

Many dietitians work long hours in multiple jobs, only to leave the profession within the first 5 years.

There are many reasons for this:

    • Lack of job satisfaction.
    • Low income in relation to the number of hours worked.
    • Difficulty attracting clients.
    • Seeing many clients for a relatively low fee and then feeling burnt out after doing an excessive amount of one-on-one sessions.
    • Putting hours into social media, but not seeing a return on that effort.
    • Lack of results with clients.

I have seen all of these things. Some of these things I have experienced. Others I have seen in colleagues.

There is Potential in The Dietetics World Though

Imagine a scenario where:

    • You enjoy the work you do.
    • Your income is high enough that you feel rewarded for the effort you put in.
    • You attract the types of clients you enjoy working with.
    • The clients you work with consistently get successful results that make you feel like you are having a positive impact.
    • Your workload is split in a way that you like so that you see the number of clients you want to see AND you have time to spend on other projects.

This Is Where Mentorship Could Come In

This is not a mentorship that is focused on pushing you towards a specific system or way of doing things. I am a big believer in doing things the way YOU want to do things. But I also think I have valuable experiences to share and that I can help improve many aspects of your approach.

And in that process, I think your journey towards achieving all those things I mentioned in the prior section will be fast-tracked significantly.

This is a comprehensive 12-month mentorship designed to help you:

    • Improve your skills and knowledge as a dietitian.
    • Improve your ability to market yourself and your services.
    • Avoid making common mistakes that many dietitians make.
    • Build confidence in your ability to help clients.

Reviews from Previous Mentees

Holly Savill

“Aidan is a wealth of knowledge. He has not only helped me enhance my knowledge of nutrition (in both clinical and sports dietetics) but also given me several strategies to improve and grow my online private practice business. I appreciate all his support during as well as outside of mentoring sessions. My experience has been invaluable. I would highly recommend Aidan as a mentor, especially for someone working in private practice.”

Rosalie Orr

“I had the honour of being under Aidan’s mentorship for a year, and it was an invaluable experience. Aidan’s guidance has had a profound impact on my career in dietetics. Throughout our time together, he not only encouraged me to challenge conventional nutrition practices and dive deep into research, but also help me build and sustain a strong client base. Aidan’s insights into social media marketing were particularly beneficial and played a pivotal role in expanding my online presence, allowing me to generate increased revenue.
I can wholeheartedly vouch for Aidan’s mentorship.”

Clare Keating

“Having Aidan in my corner as a first year APD has been the absolute best! He is a wealth of knowledge about everything from private practice to marketing, social media and sports nutrition. He’s also really supportive and encouraging whilst challenging me to push through my limiting beliefs / comfort zone to become a better dietitian and small business owner. Overall I’m so glad that I sought out mentoring with him this year, it’s honestly been one of the best things I’ve done for my career and I highly recommend him to other dietitians.”

How the 12-Month Mentorship Works

Monthly Meetings

Each month we will meet via Zooms. In these meetings, we will cover:

    • Ways to improve the service that you provide.
    • Client case studies and feedback on what to do in different situations.
    • How to structure your service, if there are any things that should be changed or improved.
    • Mentoring on different areas of nutrition knowledge when relevant.
    • Feedback on how to improve your social media from both a growth and client attraction perspective.
    • Feedback on how to improve your website to help convert more leads.

Communication Between Meetings

    • In between meetings, we will communicate via either Instagram or email, depending on your preference.
    • This frequent communication allows you to ask questions at any stage. It also allows me to provide frequent feedback on areas of interest for you. For example, we could discuss ways to improve your posts on social media as you go.

Website and Social Media Audits

    • In addition to the meetings and informal communication, I will also take time to do multiple in-depth audits of your social media and website (if relevant) to provide detailed feedback on things that can be improved.

Meet Your Mentor, Aidan

I am a dietitian who has been in the profession for the last 7 years. In that time I have:

  • Worked for myself directly after graduating.
  • Gained experience working for multiple other employers. One of which grew to be the largest dietitian organisation in Australia (with >40 dietitians) while I was working there.
  • Spent time working in a variety of settings ranging including gyms, medical centres, allied health clinics, online, aged care facilities, home visits and more.
  • Grown Ideal Nutrition to a team of 10+ dietitians.

That pathway has given me multiple perspectives.

The first portion of that pathway led to me seeing the challenges that dietitians face when they first go out into business alone – particularly as a new graduate.

Working for other employers dramatically sped up my learning curve significantly. Being around >40 other dietitians gave me exposure to a lot of their learnings too. This period of time also led to me working in many different areas, which helped me to get experience working with different types of clients too.

The most recent phase of growing Ideal Nutrition to 10+ dietitians is a bit of evidence that I have taken what I have learned and applied it in a way that has been effective.

Most importantly though, I am 7+ years deep into this journey and I still enjoy what I do. That is an underrated thing that can be hard to find in dietetics.

Who is Suitable for Mentorship with Aidan?

This mentorship is designed for dietitians who are interested in:

    • Sports nutrition
    • Business/private practice
    • Social media
    • Working with clients

You don’t need to be interested in ALL of those things. But if you are interested in at least 3 of those 4, it makes it very likely that this mentorship will be beneficial for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

The cost is $2000 for the 12 months. This can either be paid up front, or in installments.

I mostly target this towards dietitians because those are the people I think will benefit the most from working with me.

But I also do work with nutritionists who are not dieititians, so long as it is a good fit.

My experiences are specific to Australia. But I am happy to work with anybody if they are a good fit and are likely to benefit from this.

Nobody has actually asked this question lol. But I wanted to address it anyway.

Historically, for the first 6 years of my career, I did mentorship for free through the APD program for new-grad dietitians. I did that simply to be a good person and give back to the dietetics world. I’m not necessarily the most selfless person in the world, but this is something that I have always valued.

On average I would have 3-5 mentees at a given time. Any time I went above that, it felt like it cut into my time that should be spent growing my own business. So I frequently had to decline mentorship requests.

My solution since then has simply been to charge. This solves two problems: 1) It stops the issue of it cutting into my time spent on my own business as much, since it also generates income. 2) It ensures that only the people who are good fits pursue this opportunity.

You will also notice that I don’t really advertise that I offer paid mentorship. I want seeing clients and running Ideal Nutrition to be my main thing still. This is just an addition that I also like doing and I feel is a valuable contribution to dietetics.

The first step is to book fill out the application form through one of the sign up buttons on this page. Then we will explore whether the mentorship is a good fit, and take things from there!
